Like Martha Stewart, only with more eyeliner and an Hard Rock twist. :)
I'm having a dinner party tonight. Like my sister, whose blog can be found on my links list under Emily and CW, I adore food. Reading cookbooks, planning menus, shopping for food, preparing food... hospitality is one of my things. I love having people over, and I adore all the new ROOM we have in which to entertain. Nolan loves to have people over as well, so it all works out.
Tonight's Menu: Dinner for 8
Lemon-Herb Grilled Chicken (from the cookbook
seegrim sent me for Christmas - Keeping Good Company)
New Potatoes in Sour Cream (same cookbook)
Green Beans - (Shut up, now, these are MY green beans. There's never ANY left!)
Homemade Rolls (Ancient Carrie Leigh secret recipe)
Salad - my friend is bringing
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Peanut butter oatmeal cookies - Friend is bringing
Now how does that sound, y'all?
Side note: I don't ever actually say, "y'all" - it just sneaks out when I do these cooking posts. Like I'm somehow possessed by Paula Dean. I dunno. Weird.)
Currently, the rolls are rising, the chicken is marinating, the ice cream is freezing, and I am off to get my children haircuts so the little one will quit complaining that it's "touching my ears!" Horror of horrors.
Y'all have a good weekend, now, y'hear?

1. I love green beans. Would eat them all.
2. The rest of that sounds amazing.
3. Paula Dean is awesome/hilarious. I understood the reference(ya'll).

We love entertaining too, and do so fairly often. It's just that the process you described above, well my husband does all that. R has this huge cookbook collection, from which he picks stuff out depending on the theme. He really enjoys the process down to the plating of food and the presentation. *shrugs* My husband cooks to relax. Do you think I'm complaining here?

I hope the chicken turns out well. I've never tried that one. I'll need your recipe for rolls eventually. Would you believe I don't have a good one?
Anyway, hope you have/had a great time!

But yes - How much do I love that your little guys hate their hair being shaggy? We are all about the military hair-cuts here... well - not buzz cuts - but SHORT SHORT - and right now they are a bit longer than they should be. Scott is in a HUGE tizzy about it too! ;)
Have fun tonight! :D

But I'm sure the dinner party was a blast too! :D

It was! Especially because they took my kids home with them!

Then what are you doing on the net, dear??
As much as I love seeing you - I vote you go smooch your handsome hubby. ;)

And I use the word "y'all" like every two sentences. I'm not trying to channel my inner Paula Deen; it's just the way I talk! <3

Everyone here uses y'all. That's where I live! *shrug*

"touching my ears!"
Oh do savor that. I remember having an insistent little boy who fussed over his hair... They turn into moody teenage ones who develop allergies to hair cuts *sigh*

LOL me too!!! Paula Dean tends to possess some of us when we cook, it is rather weird.... hahahah I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sorry that was incredibly random... lol
