Like Martha Stewart, only with more eyeliner and an Hard Rock twist. :)

I'm having a dinner party tonight.  Like my sister, whose blog can be found on my links list under Emily and CW, I adore food.  Reading cookbooks, planning menus, shopping for food, preparing food...  hospitality is one of my things.  I love having people over, and I adore all the new ROOM we have in which to entertain.  Nolan loves to have people over as well, so it all works out.

Tonight's Menu:  Dinner for 8

Lemon-Herb Grilled Chicken (from the cookbook [personal profile] seegrim sent me for Christmas - Keeping Good Company)
New Potatoes in Sour Cream (same cookbook)
Green Beans - (Shut up, now, these are MY green beans.  There's never ANY left!)
Homemade Rolls (Ancient Carrie Leigh secret recipe)
Salad - my friend is bringing
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Peanut butter oatmeal cookies - Friend is bringing

Now how does that sound, y'all?

Side note:  I don't ever actually say, "y'all" - it just sneaks out when I do these cooking posts.  Like I'm somehow possessed by Paula Dean. I dunno.  Weird.)

Currently, the rolls are rising, the chicken is marinating, the ice cream is freezing, and I am off to get my children haircuts so the little one will quit complaining that it's "touching my ears!"  Horror of horrors.

Y'all have a good weekend, now, y'hear?

*snort*

Ummm....

1. I love green beans. Would eat them all.
2. The rest of that sounds amazing.
3. Paula Dean is awesome/hilarious. I understood the reference(ya'll).

Green beans are AWESOME.

What time do I show up?

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Come by anytime, honey.

[identity profile] 13oct.livejournal.com 2008-04-25 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds amazing. Wow wish I could be this good. I so suck at being a good housewife. I swear, if there were grades for this, I would get an -F!

We love entertaining too, and do so fairly often. It's just that the process you described above, well my husband does all that. R has this huge cookbook collection, from which he picks stuff out depending on the theme. He really enjoys the process down to the plating of food and the presentation. *shrugs* My husband cooks to relax. Do you think I'm complaining here?

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't complain. No I wouldn't. Nolan cooks once a year, and he uses up every dish, making the biggest mess imaginable.:P

How fun! I'm glad you're enjoying entertaining in your new home!

I hope the chicken turns out well. I've never tried that one. I'll need your recipe for rolls eventually. Would you believe I don't have a good one?

Anyway, hope you have/had a great time!

OOOh I need the recipe too - My rolls are terrible - I usually end up sending Jay to the store for some VERY last minute!

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Bread. Mmmmmmm.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
The chicken got rave reviews, and was very easy.

Roll recipe. Check.

You are SOOO domestic. I wonder if it's because you're Southern? Or it could be that you are not married to a shut-in who would rather have the few families that we associate with come over for pizza and wings than go out - for fear that he MIGHT see someone he's arrested. *le sigh*

But yes - How much do I love that your little guys hate their hair being shaggy? We are all about the military hair-cuts here... well - not buzz cuts - but SHORT SHORT - and right now they are a bit longer than they should be. Scott is in a HUGE tizzy about it too! ;)

Have fun tonight! :D

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
As much as Nolan loves to entertain, he might like going out and arresting someone, more. :D

[identity profile] jandjsalmon.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Jay assures me that it is really fun to arrest people.

But I'm sure the dinner party was a blast too! :D

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
I have no doubt!

It was! Especially because they took my kids home with them!

[identity profile] jandjsalmon.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
WOOT!

Then what are you doing on the net, dear??

As much as I love seeing you - I vote you go smooch your handsome hubby. ;)

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
Been and done, dearie. He's WAY asleep. :)

[identity profile] mugglechump.livejournal.com 2008-04-25 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I want to come to your house for dinner. I'm so hungry now.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Please do. You can Mapquest us. :D

[identity profile] leigh-adams.livejournal.com 2008-04-25 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok, so what time do I need to be at your house? It sounds amazing!!

And I use the word "y'all" like every two sentences. I'm not trying to channel my inner Paula Deen; it's just the way I talk! <3

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! It was all good, we had an excellent time.

Everyone here uses y'all. That's where I live! *shrug*

[identity profile] dragonsangel68.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
What time are you serving?

"touching my ears!"

Oh do savor that. I remember having an insistent little boy who fussed over his hair... They turn into moody teenage ones who develop allergies to hair cuts *sigh*

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
He's SO particular about everything. I could do with a little of an easygoing nature...

[identity profile] dragonsangel68.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Don't worry, he'll get there eventually... Then you'll be pulling your hair out trying to get him to have a hair cut or pick up his mess ;)

[identity profile] wolfstar07.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, Perse. That chicken sounds delicious. As do the rolls. And it's strange that's the only time you say y'all, because I most certainly use it a lot. I guess coz my dad's from Texas and says it a lot to. I prefer (because my grandma does it) "Y'all come back now, y'hear?" :)

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2008-04-26 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
That's sweet. Grandmas are the BEST.

lmao!! I don't know you, but I definitely share your passion for cooking!!

"Side note: I don't ever actually say, "y'all" - it just sneaks out when I do these cooking posts. Like I'm somehow possessed by Paula Dean. I dunno. Weird.)"

LOL me too!!! Paula Dean tends to possess some of us when we cook, it is rather weird.... hahahah I'm glad I'm not the only one! Sorry that was incredibly random... lol
