Easter Woes?

So. Easter is coming up.

The good news? Lent will be over, and we can all eat the Cadbury Eggs and Reeses Peanut Butter Cup eggs and malted milk ball eggs that will be in our Easter baskets. And we can celebrate Jesus' ressurrection.

*waves to Jesus* Thanks!

The bad news?

PEEPS!!!

In my experience, you either love these things, or the mere thought of these sugar encrusted marshmallow farm friends is enough to send you into a diabetic coma.

So which are you?

[Poll #1371435]

Oh, heh. Not to give away my position, but I found 100 ways to kill a PEEP.

And FYI? You run a BIG risk on an unfiltered computer when you do a google image search for peeps. That's all I'm sayin'. *covers eyes*

I'm kind of neutral on Peeps. In moderation they're okay - and it's kinda cool to microwave them - but I can get enough of them. My favorite Easter candy is the Cadbury Mini Eggs, although I'm a sucker for Cadbury's Dairy Milk year round, so that's not a big surprise.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Beci sent me mini eggs last month! *hugs Beci*

You MICROWAVE THEM???

So that would mean that they EXPLODE?

Muahahahahahahha!

[identity profile] mynuet.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Well, not exactly. They grow to ginormous proportions and then collapse into caramelized goo. One of the youtube videos of the phenomenon.

I just buy the mini eggs at Walmart or Kroger, if I'm in the store around Easter.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my GOSH! I never felt that militant about them.

This one has a little too much fun.

My mother just sent me two trays of Peeps because I LOOOOOVED them....when I was 8. Times have changed, but the fact that Peeps now gross me out if I eat more than one a year seems to escape her. So I try and give them away. Unfortunately, not many people really like Peeps and few are willing to take the little suckers off my hands.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Little Orphan Peeps.

How sad.

:D

[identity profile] embe11ished.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
When I was in grad school (eons ago), there was a web site on which some college students (I think from Texas somewhere, maybe Rice?) documented all sorts of experiments done on peeps. I can't remember the details, but microwaving came into it, and subjecting them to acid (I seem to remember that the eyes never disintegrated), and various other things. I would try to find it, but I think I'll heed your warning about the Google search and skip it. :) For the record, I like peep, at least in small quantities. Unfortunately, they only come in dozens, which is WAY too much peep!

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
WAAAAY too much peep. I agree. :)

[identity profile] seegrim.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
ACID?

*squawks*

They're damn marshmallow bunnies! Who could be so horrid?

[identity profile] embe11ished.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, well, college kids do all sorts of crazy stuff. And it was in the name of science, sort of. :)

[identity profile] seegrim.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
*pouts*

Okay. I'll try to deal.

[identity profile] slitherhither.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
If it's not chocolate, forget it!

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
I feel the same, sister!

[identity profile] seegrim.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
You sadden me, Carrie.

That's all I'm sayin'...

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
WHHHHHHAT?

But this WHOLE post was to make you smile!

I would NEVER blow up a PEEP in the microwave. I would box them up and send them to YOU. :D

[identity profile] seegrim.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
Aw....

Well don't I feel sheepish?

I'm so sorry! I love you very much, even (I suppose) if you did blow my loves up in a microwave.

*eyes Sharlene warily*

Thank you, doll. You made my day. :)

[identity profile] seegrim.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and I meant to use this icon. :)

[identity profile] nbaeker.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm reminded of Makani's drawing of Voldie saying Peeps are his natural allies... and the other of Lucius and Draco having a peep war.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh! I remember that!

[identity profile] lyndsiefenele.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
http://www.peepresearch.org/

This has been floating around the interwebz for years, and it cracks me up.

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
"While these courageous pioneers of Peepdom fared the ammonia atmosphere of Venus without any ill effects, the temperature must have proved to much for even the heartiest marshmallow chicks."

*Snort*

[identity profile] embe11ished.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
You're awesome! I'm pretty sure this was the site I was talking about in my comment above. I was too lazy to look for it, though. :)

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Lyndsie IS awesome. Yup.

[identity profile] airmidm.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ewwww! That's all I'm saying. I don't even allow them in my house- unless it is to blow them up in the microwave. ;)

[identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not a fan, either, kelly. :)

[identity profile] jandjsalmon.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
You lost me at *waves to Jesus* - I snorted Diet Pepsi and now my nose hurts. I blame the peeps. *glares at them*

[identity profile] maureen.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
So add that to the small list of things we DON'T have in common. I love them. So does my stepdad. We both agree they are best when left (open or with holes punched) out a few days so they get nice and hard on the outside.

Mmmmm peeeeps.

I voted 'ewww'

[identity profile] sue-bridehead.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
But then, I don't like marshmallows unless they're melted and mixed with Rice Krispies. Then they're good.

For Easter, gimme chocolate!

[identity profile] littlebit-liz.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I'm so torn about peeps! I always think I love them, and then I usually eat one and realize it was a bad idea :p Am definitely o excited for Reese's peanut butter cup eggs, though XD

[identity profile] dragonsangel68.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
*whispers* What are they? Because I am so not googling them if you've got your eyes covered ;P

[identity profile] cosmo-jenny.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed and seconded.
Though we have some pretty bad easter candy here as well.

[identity profile] wolfstar07.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
I like them more now than when I was a kid, but they're really not that great. I can handle, maybe, one. When I was your kids ages, I hated getting them in my Easter basket. I was a strange little girl who didn't like pure sugar.

[identity profile] numbaby.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
I had to vote the last one, as there's no "My hemisphere is peepless" option :P

When I get home from work, I'll see if I can find Fellowship of the Peeps for you - because re enacting LotR: FotR with these things is TEH AWESOME. (even if I imagine they taste icky)

*loves*

[identity profile] baby-k21.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 09:43 am (UTC)(link)
Peeps are horrible!

*giggling at you* I really don't think these are that high on YOUR list...are they? Chocolate. Milk chocolate. Dark chocolate. All of those sound like Carrie to me. xD

hehehe! *loves*
