Meme Glee
1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.
First of all, I'd like to say that I'm hypersensitive with my icons. I love "Cheer up emu kid" so much it hurts, but never use it, for fear of hurting someone's feelings. And nine times out of ten, my icons don't "mean" anything. On my desktop, for some reason, every time I post or comment on LJ, it chooses a different icon randomly. On my laptop, it uses my default. Why does it do this, you may ask? Pfft. I've got NO idea. If you know, speak up. I'd be interested in the explanation. Okay. On to the meme.
seegrim chose these:
1. you have been found wanting:

This is from the end of the movie A Knight's Tale. If you haven't seen it, GO. It is seriously a good time. Alan Tudyk and Paul Bettany are hysterical, and Heath Ledger is cute in it. Plus, it's really tongue in cheek with the music it chose for the soundtrack. Queen, AC/DC... What's not to love? I took a group of my high school students to see it back in 2003 or whenever it came out. We all had a ball, and they teased me about the naked butt scene mercilessly. Of course, they were all of age to see it, but still. Horrifying for me to be there with them. And this was before I taught really super cool kids like I have now, that wouldn't even blink twice at me watching something like that. I was a little straighter laced when I taught public school. *sigh* Those were the days. Have I evolved or devolved? Your call.
2. Some guys/arsenic:

I love the musical Chicago. This is from the number "Cell Block Tango," in which all of the women sitting in prison tell about how they killed their husbands or significant others. I use it when I'm a little peeved with the husband. Of course I would never poison my husband.
Not satisfying enough. If I were gonna off the Nolan, I'd do it with my cast iron skillet.
I kid.
*cough*
3. Zach Gilford:

I FOUGHT kicking and screaming to watch Friday Night Lights because...ugh. Football. Mocking Texas. Ugh, I say. But at the risk of sounding like a seventeen year-old fangirl, I LOOOOOOVVVVE this show. And not JUST for the pretty eye candy. (Mostly, but not just.) This little cutie plays Matt Saracen, the sweetheart of a QB on the show. Also, this is the visual representation for Ron Weasley in the rpg for which I play. *smooches Ron* That might have had something to do with me choosing the icon.
4. Pansy Post it:

Back when I rpg'd at Caliga, my character, Pansy Parkinson, sneaked in her boyfriend's apartment and burned a painting that she didn't care for. In a reply to a comment on the scene, I made the offhand statement that I needed an icon with this on it, and
liliyan whipped it out. The "P" can also stand for Persephone, actually, come to think of it.
5. little carrie reading:

This actually reminds me of me at this age. Stringy hair, alone, reading a book. I swear, I didn't have many books, but the ones I did have, I read over and over and over. Alice in Wonderland, Heidi, A little Princess, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach. I lost myself in books. Still do. If I want to finish one, I'll stay up till 2 am to do it.
maureen chose these:
1. First base has nothing to do with kissing (her favorite):

So. I'm a native Texan. First generation, actually. My parents are from Arkansas. I'm not one of those Texans who thinks their state is better than yours, but I do have a fair bit of state pride. I think it's funny that being from Texas holds a stigma (be it good or bad) in other parts of the world, and that people have preconceived notions of what Texans are like. This icon is to support the Texas Rangers baseball team, located in Arlington, where I went to college. I love baseball, I love going to games, and I love Texas. And I think the icon is funny. :)
2. No Ninjas

I chose this one because I think it's funny. No ninjas? Funny. But the TIMES. Only from 2 am to 5 am. Any other time of the day, ninjas are totally cool. Makes sense, right?
3. tea makes it better

It does. Well, tea and a bath. I take a bath when I'm sick or don't feel well. In fact, I've been known to have 5 or 6 baths a day if I'm sick. But "A bath makes it better" sounds a bit strange.
4. Carrie in flowers

It's pretty. And it you squint, it looks a little like me. Except for the curly hair. And I'd never wear a white belt. Is that a belt? *squints* I can't tell. Basically, I smacked my name on this icon 'cause I thought it was pretty.
5. Grammar snark

I might be a bit of a grammar snob. I try not to correct people (unless they ask) but I started out in the HP fandom as a beta. I don't beta much anymore, mainly because the people that come through PI always have freaking long stories that I don't care anything about. But I thought this icon was funny. So there you have it.
And I know, I've been miserable with replying to posts and commenting lately. But a personal post is brewing. And, of course, more cooking posts. So off, I go, back into my cave. *waves*

How funny. I couldn't remember what the Pansy icon was from! I thought it was from when Michael Corner and Cormac shared that drunken kiss while Pansy looked on... I'm glad one of us has a decent memory. :)
I love your icons, btw. I don't know if I've ever told you that. Mine are much more fan-girly, yours are situational. I like that.
Of course, I like my twenty-plus Paolo's as well. *g*

I just don't have the patience to go back through those old posts and look, though.
