If you're into reading Ron/Pansy, here you go.

I got runner-up. :)

Read Here at [info]carriescribbles

I'm completely exhausted.  Nolan and I went to a work call at the theatre today where I painted wood to look like... wood.

Oh, scenic painting.  How I've missed you.

Hope everyone's having a spectacular weekend!

The big reveal went up last night at [livejournal.com profile] ronpansy_fest ! Back in early summer, [livejournal.com profile] seegrim and I banged out a fic to enter, and I for one had a great time doing it.

You can read it at the fest, here, or at our writing journal, [Bad username or unknown identity: magical_whimsy. ]
It's been awhile since I've done a proper "life catch up" post. *

The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas opens Thursday at the Amarillo Little Theatre, wherein I play Linda Lou, a girl working at the Chicken Ranch.** The show is solid, and funny, and musically sound, so say the directors. For my part? I've spent the majority of the last five weeks going up and down stairs and dancing in three and a half inch heels. Nothing can hurt me, y'all. I'm ready. Bring it.  Plus, I got to do my own costumes, and I have to say, they're awfully sassy.  Garters and thigh high stockings and vintage red slips and bejeweled floor length gowns.  HEE!  Chriselda (the theatre's photographer) is taking pictures tonight, so I'll have some to post next week sometime.

Ethan made both the honor choir and the safety patrol.  He has to be at the school at 7:30.  Dear God in heaven above, deliver me from the Safety Patrol.  Aaron is unamused that he has to get up earlier to accomodate his brother's responsibilities.  I, for one, understand where the kid's coming from.

I'm still working at the library again this year, with the added new bonus of having a little job reading books to the special needs class, oral interpretation style.  I started today, and it was fun.  I really enjoy reading books aloud, I always have (plus, it's one of the few things I do well).  And they seemed to enjoy it.  Win/win.

I think I may volunteer at one of the hospitals doing much the same thing.  Wish I could parlay it into an actual, paying, job.***

What else?  Because I'm ridiculously crazy, I'm writing for a new HP rpg, [livejournal.com profile] turn_left_rpg , set after book 7 and with no reference whatsoever to the EoD.****  *shakes head*  Too, too fun.  And addictive.  I also and still writing for [livejournal.com profile] si_muove_rpg , and I'm posting a new R/P at various communities and on my writing journal, [livejournal.com profile] carriescribbles .

I'm having lunch with the Education Director of the Theatre today, who I love more than my luggage.  And It's FALL.  Life is FABULOUS!

* If you don't give a rip about me and my life, this is you chance to escape.  No hard feelings.
**which is the cleaned up version of "whore" and "whorehouse" respectively that you can sell to the grey-haired blue hairs that may attend :D
***I sound like Nolan.  :P

I got all 'Little House on the Prairie' again. :D  I went from gorgeous, perfectly ripe apricots...

To beautiful jars of jam... all within a few hours, and for less than $8.  Move over, Ma Ingalls.  I got it covered.

Rather than give you the step by step, which you can see here, I thought I'd share a bulleted list of  other random stuff:
  • [livejournal.com profile] seegrim  and I are going to rock the Mile High Music Festival this weekend.  I've been writing with the woman for nearly two years, talking to her nearly every day since December of '07, and spending hours and hours on the phone.  It's about time I met her face to face!
  • It's raining.  Hallelujah.
  • I fell while on my walk yesterday (oh, yeah, I'm graceful) & my hand is messed up.  Silly Carrie.
  • I've clocked something like 140 miles walked since the beginning of May.  Get smaller, rear end!
  • I get my grey roots colored tomorrow.  Seriously.  SERIOUSLY.  Enough with the 'growing old' crap.
  • I've been doing lots of painting, lately.  It's SO good for me. I love it.  Soothes my chi or whatever.
  • I've also been doing lots of writing.  I entered the [livejournal.com profile] ronpansy_fest  with [livejournal.com profile] seegrim  and the [livejournal.com profile] dgficexchange  with [livejournal.com profile] mynuet , and both are pretty solid efforts.  I was pleased.  So YAY for that.
  • I was a runner up in the [livejournal.com profile] dg_ldws  this round.  Was fun and challenging.  I learned that I'm too wordy for a limit.
  • five weeks til I have to stand next to my SIL in a swimsuit.  I wish phenfen didn't cause me to die. :(
  • six weeks til my punks go back to school.  Come on, August.
Tell me something cool, f-list.  What's been happening?

This day has sucked baboon butt. Seriously.  So, instead of bitching, I give you my top ten things that have made me happy today.

10.  Fresh blueberries that don't cost $5 for a handful.  Fresh fruit season, in fact.  Delightful.
9.  Recipe Blogs.  The Pioneer woman, in particular.
8.  The story for [livejournal.com profile] ronpansy_fest rocking right along.  [livejournal.com profile] seegrim  and I have a nice little story happening.  :)  We're at 8,332 words.
7.  That I can say the whole prologue to Star Trek.  (Nolan says this shouldn't make me happy, but assures that I am, in fact really dorky.  Something you and I already knew. *wink*)
6.  Children laughing as they play in the sprinkler.  The fact that my kids are still entertained by doing so.
5.  My ipod jack for the car.  Tunes.  Always make me happy.  AC/DC with the sunroof open.
4.  Friends keeping me company on the phone while I grocery shop.
3.  Clean sheet day!
2.  Lists.  Grocery, to do, and the satisfaction that comes from crossing things off of them.
1.  Winning stuff!

My sister and her cute family arrive tonight, so I'll be away for most of the weekend - I'll probably be available again Sunday evening.  Have a good one, y'all!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Is anyone interested? It might be mildly entertaining. )

And I know, I've been miserable with replying to posts and commenting lately. But a personal post is brewing. And, of course, more cooking posts. So off, I go, back into my cave. *waves*

I attempted this last night, but el-jay thwarted me.  I am resilient, however, and sallied forth to persevere through that punk Frank eating my stuff.

Lots and lots and lots of words... )
LJ ate two posts yesterday.  Two LONG ones.  That brasses me off on a level previously only held by people who pull out in front of me in heavy traffic.

Anyway.  I thought Monday sucked out loud.  I can say that now, having perspective, and I know unequivocally and beyond a shadow of a doubt that yes, indeed, Monday did suck.

I got a raging headache from eating things I know that I shoudn't.  NO MORE DEVIATIONS.  NO sugar.  I don't care if people say I'm weird or not.  'Eff 'em and feed 'em fish heads,' my sweetly eloquent husband says.

BIL's father died.  He was a sweet man.  We're going to Denver on Sunday for the funeral.  It's a 16 hour drive round trip, or $1600 in airfare.  We drive.  Be back Tuesday.

And when did I get to the age that I go to more funerals than weddings?  Seriously.  I take it back.  I WANT to buy blenders and sit through wooden readings of 1 Cornthians 13.  Please.

My week has been consumed with trying to sell this house or making decisions on the other one.  I swear if the flooring lady calls ONE MORE TIME, I will end her.  She's old, too.  I could totally take her.  BAM.  Just a clothesline and an elbow drop, and she's done.  (I'm kidding.  Sorta.  Mostly.)

I made videos of the interior rooms of the old house, more for me and the boys than for anyone else, but if I get ambitious, I might post them.  Gotta keep the stalkers happy.  *waves at the stalkers*

Playwrighting.  Arriving late and leaving early and not contibuting while you're there is not going to get a play written.  (It's a fabulous premise this semester, but I'm not writing it.  Completely fabulous, and could be flipping hysterical...  Still not writing it.  There was some action on Google docs yesterday, so that's encouraging.)

Caliga.  Still adore Caliga.  Still.  Though, Pansy's getting so very tired of being a captive.  I think she's going to make her move soon.  I hope she lives.  She wants to play with the new vampire friend!  And hug on Cormac.  What a sweetheart.  He doesn't even know it, which is, I think, the best part.  Lots of scenes going on right now.  Super fun.  *Huggles the people*

As for Michael, his life is so sweet and perfect that I find myself JEALOUS OF MY OWN FICTIONAL CHARACTER.

Clearly, I need therapy.  Will I go?  No, for I am too busy freaking out about picking out cabinet pulls for the house.  Somebody shoot me, please.  Or maybe just come to Amarillo and help.  I'll buy you lunch and keep you entertained while you're here.

I was supposed to meet with Steph today.  It snowed three inches last night.  I hate driving on snow. (Celeste, Jessica, Mallory and Vicky can call me a wimp.  I'm not an excellent driver when there's NO white stuff all over.)  It was 65 earlier this week and now it's freezing.  That always makes my body freak out. Pick a temperature, y'all.  Either one.  I'm fine with either.

Gotta get the munchkins up for school.  Darn it.  I have a cute kid story, too.  Maybe later.

I give you a list of products that I swear by, that make me happy, and that I use on a weekly, if not daily basis.

That said, Hubs is off on his yearly Elk Expedition.  I'm husbandless for a week!  Anyone want to scene? (hee!)
