I think people know about Pink Floyd, but how many actually listen? Their music couldn't be mainstream no matter what you did to it...their albums are meant to be listened to from front to back, and the music is just...epic. The only album that is commercially accessible is Dark Side of the Moon, and even then, the singles are nothing like what you would think a mainstream song should sound like.
But hey, that's just my opinion. I like to think that Pink Floyd is just beyond mainstream because they are just that AMAZING :)
