Here's this week's cute kid story:

So we're all in the car, going out to dinner (On the Border.  It was meh).   And Ethan is nattering on in the backseat; if you've been around a seven year old for any period of time, they really never shut up.  It's a neverending stream of chatter.  I try to listen, I do, but I can't help but tune out and tag in Nolan, sometimes.  Last night was one of those times.  I gave Nolan the "Tag, you're it" look and sat looking out the window, lost in my own thoughts (which probably had something to do with Cormac McLaggen in a toga, sadly).  Anyway, I caught the tail end of their conversation.

**********
Ethan.  (like a chipmunk on crack) Chatter chatter chatter, London Bridge, Chater chatter, learning in school, chatter, chatter.

Nolan.  Do you know where London Bridge is?

Ethan.  (in triumph)  London!

Nolan.  Nope, it's in Arizona.

(Everyone in the car stops and looks at him, in disbelief.  Everything that comes out of my husband's mouth is a joke, so we all thought this was, too.)

Ethan.  Nuh-uh.

Nolan.  Yes, it is.  In the sixties, the bridge couldn't handle the traffic over the river, and it started falling apart, so they shipped it to Arizona.

Ethan.  No.  That's not right.  Ask Mommy.  She's smarter than you.

******

Burn.  And apparently not, because when I got home, I Googled "London Bridge".

I may not be the smartest, anymore.  Not that I'll tell anyone that.

Ethan doesn't need to know that, not when he already thinks you're smarter than daddy ;)

Wow-I had no clue. Very interesting!

I know the feeling... *giggles*

Hahaha, that's so funny. And totally reminds me of my family. Mommy's the smart one in my family, too. I used to say so all the time. (No wonder my dad and I don't get along!)

*bursts into helpless giggles* Have I mentioned that I love your sons? One day I'd like to just sit and observe your family. I bet I'd get endless amusement, or maybe you just pick out the good bits to tell us.

like a chipmunk on crack -- I know that feeling. Sometimes I want to stop and stare and just ask Daniel "Do you even know what you're talking about, or do you just open your mouth and let it all out?".

Loved the "Ask Mommy, she's smarter than you" thing. Did it make you beam? The London Bridge in Arizona thing? Must be a Daddy thing because mine pulled that on my sister and I the other year. Made me sad. It's London Bridge, not Lake-Havasu-City Bridge. *sulks*

The London Bridge got moved to Arizona? But... My entire world has now turned upside down.

"A chipmunk on crack" made me snort! It's good to know that my 7 year old isn't the only one who does that!

Yes, at that age (and sometimes long after that), kids seem to chatter on endlessly! ^_^ But that's cute! Nice that he thinks you're smarter than Dad - what did Nolan say to that?

I knew about London Bridge being moved to AZ, but I've never gone to see it. Too freakin' hot out there in Lake Havasu City-!
