I came home from my valentine vacation to a VERY sick six year-old. Aaron has the flu, pneumonia, bronchitis and strep - seriously, what doesn't he have? He's not a good medicine taker, either. In everything else he's obediently compliant, but with medicine, he turns into the anti-Aaron. It is not pretty.

At least he has his grandpa to cuddle with him. My dad is here. The boys call him "Papa Jim" and he brought a bunch of movies, thankfully. And curling up on the couch with A.J. is about Papa Jim's speed.

Rehearsal last night went alright, much better than I expected, actually. Tonight is the last scene of Act I and Act II which I haven't had as much work on, so... eek.

Nolan gets in at 10:10 tonight, so I'll be going to fetch him after my rehearsal.

Hope all you people are flu-free.

Love!
I missed Ethan's first choir concert, due to the fact that I FELT LIKE POO. I'm a horrible mother. But Nolan took pictures. :)

It's cuh-razy how much he looks like my husband did at the same age. )

Okay.  I might be an awful parent.  It's almost certain.

Here's the story. Nolan and I aren't big fans of putting the kids in sports.  One, we aren't really sporty-type people, and two, by the time they get their homework done and play for a few minutes, it's time for dinner, and then we spend a little time as a family, and it's time for bath and bed.  So we thought we'd save extra curricular activities for middle school.

So when Ethan came to me and said that he wanted to audition for choir, I said yes.

Because frankly, I've heard him sing.  A capella, the child is a nightmare.  But in a group or with an instrument, he can hold a pitch, sort of.  I thought he'd learn a lesson about not getting everything you want in life, and that we'd continue to avoid the extra curricular thing.

Not so.  My son is now a member of the Woodlands Elementary honor choir.  And he came home excited and happy, CARRYING BLAKELEY'S PINK CAMOUFLAGE BACKPACK FOR HER.

*headdesk*

So he has rehearsal on Tuesday and Thursday after school.  And evidently a GIRLFRIEND.

And one more thing?  Blakeley's in the honor choir, too.  (And comes in my house after school every day and eats M&M's out of my candy dish.)

*cries*

My husband, usually a good father, sometimes makes SPECTACULARLY bad choices in parenting.

He let the boys (4 & 6, thankyouverymuch) watch Lady in the Water, because he said that it was A BEDTIME STORY.

*tries to refrain from calling own husband an idiot*

Maybe M. Night Shaymaylan's Kids aren't as easily spooked as mine, but mine haven't slept through the night since.  They dragged their pillows and blankets into our room and slept on the floor one night, and I went into their room for about an hour last night.  I'm done, though.  Hubby will be the one soothing and cajoling and reassuring tonight.

Oh, who am I kidding.  Hubby  has a lot of talents, but those three aren't on the list.

Poor Aaron is still sick.  I took him to the Doctor, and he doesn't have strep or the flu, but a fever and a wicked cough that doesn't seem to be getting better.  Breathing treatments (All hail the almighty nebulizer), cough medicine and Tylenol.  Anyone have any advice?  What makes you feel better when you're sick?

Meanwhile, Mummy is steadily on the path to crazy town...  not one moment by myself in a week...
