We had a birthday party for AJ on Saturday. Here's Nolan, talking to the 7 year-old bicycle gang. We had bike races.

And foot races

And then they played touch football. Here's coach trying to explain how the game is played.

What a bunch of goobers.

When we say "touch" football. That seemed to be a relative term.

Ethan in the huddle, trying to WIN.

As the mom and the only girl at the party, I got to lie in the grass and take pictures. It's good to be me.

Decorated dining room

This actually blows spit all over the cake. I'd never considered that til just now.

But look at that face. Who cares if he spit on the cake. He's awesome.

We pinata'd.

And the candy was gathered.

Last night before their PE program.

Ethan's reading it in EARNEST, this time.I had to make him turn off the light last night, and when I went up to wake them up, he was still reading! Harry Potter! Hee! Now I just have to convince him that Draco and Ginny belong together...

He's an intelligent boy. He will see that true love exists between the ferret and the girl weasel!

I love love the football theme. Nolan looks just like Coach Taylor. Yay for Ethan reading HP. I'm reading the series to Scott and he (like daddy) can't get past the words on the page that Draco is actually a good guy and Greg isn't dumb. *shakes head*

I'm glad you survived the party unscathed. I know how you loathe them. :D

Happy birthday, AJ! The pictures are adorable; I love the one of all the boys leaping down the street.

Heehee, good luck turning Ethan into a D/G fan. Come on, Ethan... One of us, one of us...

Carrie, the pictures are great and it just proves what I already know--you and Nolan are awesome parents. :)

It looks like the party was a success.

Happy Birthday, young man!

Train 'em young, Carrie (to like D/G, of course). Then you and the boys could gang up on Nolan. ^_^

Looks like the party was fun. It's best if you can have most of it outside, where they can wear themselves out without destroying your house or anything in it.

I love it! Where else but Texas would there be a football pinata? ;-) Is that the only shape they come in there? You know, I did hear about a Texas-shaped waffle that a friend of mine had while staying at a hotel in your state, which I thought was kind of funny.

Oh, I just had a thought: if there were Texas-shaped pinatas, it would bring a whole new meaning to the phrase 'Beat Texas'. :-P (I can't help it - I lived in Oklahoma for 25 years!)

Nolan looks like he's having as much fun as the boys! Spit on the birthday cake... I'd never considered that before *ponders*

Ethan looks so big sitting there reading. He's a smart boy, so he'll work out that mummy has it right *nods*

Happy birthday, AJ!

It looks like the boys had a blast. I bet Nolan was worn out by the end of it. He's a good dad.

Why when I read that did I automatically think of Fred Savage in The Princess Bride saying, "Ew, you said it wasn't a kissing book!"

Aw, such lovely pictures. It looks like he had a fabulous time, even if you sweated it a bit. :)

My eldest was heavily into HP when he was about 7/8 ish too. He's sort of past that phase now but my 5 year old is having all the books read to him ... he can't wait to learn how to read for himself so he can read them.

Happy birthday to AJ!

I'll always think twice before blowing out candles now. ;P And your kids are gorgeous! So is your leg XD

Guh. WOW. That cake is impressive. Who woulda thunk Carrie severely dislikes birthday parties? You did a fantastic job of decorating and it looks like they had so much fun!
