So, the reason behind all the garage sale posts of late is that Nolan and I are building a house. (Actually, some other very nice men are, but since we're paying for it, I totally feel justified in saying that.)  Anyhow, I've been trying to purge the house of the level of sheer, unadulterated volume of CRAP that we've accumuated in the 12 years since hubby's lived here and the 91/2 years that I have.  It's insane.  A never-ending, trash bag-filled nightmare, I tell you.  Anyway, when I was clearing out the crap, I ran across this:

It's a proof of my headshot from when I was eighteen.  (For those of you not familiar with the biz, a headshot is an 8x10 black and white glossy with your photo on one side and your resume on the other.  I cannot begin to imagine what my resume had on it at eighteen.  A bunch of lies, probably.)

Anyway, look!  There are absolutely no wrinkles, and that Carrie looks SO YOUNG!  She's innocent, and not yet sullied by all the horrors that life has to offer when you're an adult.  But in a kind of wordly way.  I've had a half dozen or so other headshots taken of me over the years for the various theatres I've worked for, but theis one's my favorite.  And by headshot standards, it's not even that good.  I found Nolan's too, (so droolworthy) but his was a copy of his actual headshot, and they wouldn't scan it.  Whatever.  I will find a way.

Conversely, here are Nolan and I today.  Actually yesterday, if you want to get technical.

And here's the house.  They say we'll be ready to move in by January 1, 2008.

The front of the house.  Without landscaping, it looks as if we'll be able to ski off of the front porch.

Standing in the breakfast nook, looking through the kitchen and into the dining room.

Standing in the breakfast nook, looking at the living room & entryway.

The view from the front door.  There'll be other houses across the street, eventually.

So that's what I've spent the vast majority of my time working on these past few months.  Well, that and [profile] caliga_rpg.  *looks around sheepishly*  Are we all keeping up with that?  I barely can...  Pansy's shaping up very nicely.  A little naughty, but you know, what are you going to do?  The girl has a mind of her own.  Very driven.  And I shudder to think about the volume of posts on Halloween.  YIKES.

I think you look gorgeous in both pictures.
And wow, that's going to be some house!!!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thank you, sweetheart.

We designed it ourselves, so if I don't it, I've only screwed myself. ;)

That house is going to be lovely..all big and spacious..such luxury to be able to walk around and not bump into things...sigh..sometimes I miss my old house. It was a lot more spacious than the one Kyle and I have now...

And speaking of lovely, the pics of you and your husband are gorgeous. I swear...you and I could be sisters or cousins. Kyle, my husband, could also pass as a relative of your husbands. I will have to post a pic of myself and Kyle sometime so you can see. If my husband would grow his hair out a bit, he would look like John Grudden, football coach of the loosing Tampa Bay Bucs. But he is the cutiest thing in a sun visor...

What kind of landscaping are you planning?

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

I can't wait to have SPACE. It'll be SO fun.

You should post pics. I was nervous at first, but nothing ever remotely stalker-y has happened. My f-list is the best. So we have dopplegangers? I can't wait to see!

As far as the landscaping, we're going to terrace the front yard (two sections, I think) and put steps up to the front door. Couple of trees, some ornamental shrubbery, a few Petunias, and I'm probably gonna call it a day. My mom's a genus with that sort of thing, so she's going to help.

*whispers* Post pics!

You, of course, look so beautiful in both pics. The house is amazing, even in its unfinished state :)

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thank you! One of these days you should post a pic of yourself, somewhere! We've never seen one, have we?

From: [identity profile] dragonsangel68.livejournal.com

I don't really have any recent ones (I always make sure I'm holding the camera *wink*), unless you can pick through the football Grand Final pic and find me among my boys ;) I did post one a few years back from my wedding(http://dragonsangel68.livejournal.com/72017.html#cutid2) - it's sixteen years old now!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

SQUEE! Oh, my heavens! You are BEAUTIFUL! I adore wedding pictures. Everyone is so lovely. I love the picture with the blurry edges. And that dress was so pretty. The height of fashion for 1991(That's the year that headshot up there was taken, as well). Do you think one of your girls will wear it one day?

SO PRETTY!

From: [identity profile] dragonsangel68.livejournal.com

Thank you *blushes* The pic with the blurry edges is my favorite :) You're good! The dress was a 1991 European design that was featured in so many bridal magazines out here and when I saw it I just had to have it! Maddy might wear it, but it depends on how tall she gets. Tori is already way too big for it - the dress would be a size 2 in your measurements and she's a size 8.

can i say i am insanely jealous of your house? *pouts*

oh. and you're still beautiful!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Don't be jealous! This has been a long time coming.

Thank you! I wish everything was still where it was when I was 18. But, two kids later, you have to expect a shift, grey hair and wrinkles. 'Tis the way of life. Of course, I am fighting it kicking and screaming...

Thanks! Come visit anytime! You know, when we get the walls in...and eveything. ;)

Oh, thank goodness. before i clicked on the cut I thought that you had posted the picture of me with the braces and hideous earrings. Around the time you were looking all sexy in your headshot I was an incredibly awkward 13. ick.

anyhow, can't wait to see your new house!

Emily

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

I LOVE that picture! I mean, yes, you had braces, and yes, those earrings were unfortunate, (But actually mine, I think, if that makes any difference) but I think you're cute, and we look happy, don't we? I didn't post that one anywhere. I just sent it to you.

"Can't wait," like you're going to come to Amarillo?

From: [identity profile] jandjsalmon.livejournal.com

The house is gorgeous... and so are you. And Nolan.

The head shot... WOW! You were SOOOO young. WoW! I wish I looked that good when I was 18. ;)

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Oh, thanks, thanks, thanks. The headshot of Nolan that they wouldn't let me scan is SO good. I remember now why I had to have him all to myself!

I KNOW! If I had the wisdom I have now with that youth and body, I seriously think I could have taken over the world. Now I'm just too tired. Part of God's plan, I guess! ;)

From: [identity profile] dieloreley.livejournal.com

I'm 18. I don't look like that. *is envious* Aaanyway, the house looks gorgeous and I bet you can't wait until you move in and make it all yours. It looks huge, though. Lots of cleaning for Carrie to do? Hopefully not!

As always, you and Nolan make me smiiiiile. ^_^

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Hush it, you. I've seen pictures of you and you're beautiful.

I can't wait to move in! And if I got a housekeeper, I would be completely useless. I'm borderline now! So yeah, I'll be cleaning it all. Along with the rest of the family. It's time the boys learned the finer points of vacuuming. ;)

You make me smile, too!

From: [identity profile] dieloreley.livejournal.com

My goodness, good luck! Borderline useless my arse. I know how much you do -- all that cleaning/laundry/cooking, theatre work at the community centre, producing plays and doing the sets, producing church skits (how's that going, by the way?), being the best podcast princess evah!... *raises eyebrow*

YAY for you and designing your own house! ♥

From: [identity profile] maureen.livejournal.com

Love the pictures! Your house looks great and you and Nolan are a stunning couple. I actually think you look more beautiful today. Experience makes us all more attractive, methinks.

I was going to mention myself, but she beat me you it...you and rayneday could SO be sisters. I've known her for ages (10 years or so now), though most of them we've lived far apart. Like now. Phoenix and Chicago. No matter. It's a good excuse for us to go visiting. And we do.

Three more days until my big move!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Aw, thanks. That's the sweetest thing anyone's said in months!

Now I must see a picture! I do get that a lot... You look like my (mother, sister, aunt, cousin - whatever), but now I've just gotta see!

I have a friend like that. Just one. I actually thinks she lurks here sometimes. I see her about once every two years, though.

Only 78 for me! (Yeah, right. Still not holding my breath.)

From: (Anonymous)

Yay!! *claps hands* New houses are so much fun! And yours looks like a dream! (personally, I think you should keep the ski slope front....it'll give the boys something to do while you are decorating your new abode)

And - being totally honest here - I prefer the 'Now Carrie' face. And I don't see any wrinkles on the 'Now Carrie' face (NO FAIR!). Your husband is quite the looker too.....something kind of Kevin Costner about him. No wonder your kids are such dolls!

From: [identity profile] sue-bridehead.livejournal.com

Wow, that's so great! Your house looks like it will be fabulous. How many square feet, bedrooms, etc? Is it a custom build, or was it done from a model home you saw? We chose ours from a model in a 'master planned community' with minor bits of customization, but we just love it. Even if our neighbors are a little too close to us...but then, isn't everyone in Phoenix? ;)

On another post, your mom said she didn't like the 'Lolita' pic. I think it's beautiful! By the way, congrats on losing the poundage! I'm still trying - but then, I did just take a vacation. Not a whole lot of low-fat snacks in Disneyland. :P

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

The house will be fabulous. I know I'll love it. It's going to be 5 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, and a little over 3600 square feet when it's all said and done. It makes me a little nauseaous to think about cleaning that much space, but, if it's the price I have to pay, I shall.

Thanks! I like that picture, too. It's a definite "was" pic, though.

Glad you had fun on vacation! I hope I get to go somewhere soon... hubs definitely needs a break.
