☂ It's the anniversary of the Allies invasion of Normandy, but more to the point of this post, it's my wedding anniversary. Thirteen years ago, [livejournal.com profile] nolankyle and I were married and then proceeded to re-enact storming the beaches of France and a World War II-like battle for the next four years. Fortunately, we achieved peace just shy of nuclear detonation. Good Times.

☂ Summer rocks. I have lain by the pool with a book for the last week, while my kids exhausted themselves playing soccer, basketball, swimming and diving. Life does not get better than that.

☂ There were two wildfires last week; they burned hundreds of acres of land to the north and south of my house, and I can see all of the charred earth when I step outside my front door. We need rain. In a BIG, big way.

☂ The Opening titles of Game of Thrones are mesmerizing. It's like the Sesame Street mini-documentary on making crayons - I can't look away.

☂ I'm still slogging through the Outlander series. Seriously, the woman is wordy to the point of distraction. She uses a hundred words when four would really do - but I still stayed up until 1 am this morning finishing the fourth. So I guess I like them. Really, I like the characters, not the book.

☂ The first six minutes of the new season of True Blood looks... interesting. Here's the link, if you're curious.

☂ My twenty year high school reunion is in October. Twenty. Years. That makes me a little nauseated, frankly, for two reasons. One: Twenty years, and two, twenty damn years. Ugh. I hope I'm at least thin by then.

Nolan and I have been married twelve years as of June 6th at 5:59 p.m! (Why 5:59? I didn't want the 6th month, 6th day 6th hour. Too weird.) So to commemorate the occasion, we went out of town on a romantic getaway!

Well, no, we didn't. We all got the flu, and I canceled my parents trip so that they could stay with the boys so that they wouldn't get sick, too. So instead, we're getting well and going to my in-law's house for dinner tomorrow. I asked if I could bring dessert, because I wanted to recreate the amaretto cake we had at our wedding. Nolan said it was the "best cake he ever had," and that, my friends is saying something. Nolan Kyle has tried a lot of cakes. :)

So like so many things I do, on a whim I went and got a bottle of amaretto, some cake decorating stuff, and ...voila! Amaretto cake with buttercream frosting. Pictures and all that how to stuff follow.
I hope it tastes good! )

***I have no idea why my pictures won't resize to something less insane. It's late, so I'm calling it a day. :)
I love the hug generator on my profile page.  It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.  :)  Everyone should have one.

Hubs and I saw The Bourne Ultimatum last night.  Hubby was a aflutter at the car chases/action sequences/ass kickings.  I was mildly entertained.  That Jason Bourne can really take a beating, though.  He's a bit like the Energizer bunny.  Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'.  Wait.  That's a Seiko.  Whatever.  It was alright.  It was shot in an interesting way, but parts of it made me a little dizzy.

I'll be gone Sunday through Thursday for a trip to NYC.  I have tickets to see David Hyde Pierce in Curtains and we'll probably see a couple of more shows while we're there.  I'll take lots of pictures and do a big picspam blog upon my return.

I've realized that in my absence, I'll miss two events; the first is [profile] sue_bridehead's birthday.  So, Happy Birthday, Sue, I hope it's phenomenal and you get everything you want; my best wishes go with you for the upcoming year!  The second event is that Monday, August 6th is my one year anniversary of having this livejournal. *tear*  This makes me very happy!  My love for livejournal was almost instantaneous.  I found my way here originally through reading fan fiction at FIA.  While reading [personal profile] rainpuddle13's and [personal profile] dragonsangel68's stories, they mentioned LJ and once I finally wandered over to see what all the fuss was, I was hooked.  I've met truly fabulous people from all over the world.  There are people on my f-list not only from all over the continental United States, but also Austrailia, Canada, the UK, and Scandanavia, and my life is richer for having met you all.  My f-list has grown exponentially; sitting down with a cup of coffee and reading LJ is one of my favorite things to do in the morning.  I thank you all for blessing me, and I look forward to another fantastic year on livejournal!

Apologies for getting all sentimental.  *sniff*  See you Friday!
