Edit:  Here's the song.  Apologies to Irving Berlin.  http://dracoandginny.com/persephone33/auditionsong.mp3

I've really only wanted a part this badly ONCE before.  It did not go well, as I still have not played Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.  Good thoughts, huh, f-list?  I'm not usually needy, but the good vibes will go a LOOOOONG way.

Why not record the song and get some critiques? Or, more likely, lavish praise.

odeo.com (http://odeo.com) for free uploading. :D

(I use it to record stuff, too)

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Myn uploaded it, but thank you! I'll certainly scribble that down for next time. One day I'll figure out how to do voice posts, too.

You know, there is a story that Cass Elliott couldn't hit this one note unitl she hit her head one time. After that she could reach it. However, I suspect that's total crap, so please don't go smashing your head into things.

*hugs* Good luck!

Good luck, both with the audition and with trying to keep yourself sane until then! I'll be sending positive energy your way!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thank you. I'm afraid the bid for sanity has flown out the window, though.

From: [identity profile] scarlettrayne2.livejournal.com

Good luck!! I'm sending you lots of positive energy. Besides I heard being insane is a good thing for actors. ;) As for the clothes to wear, that's 12 less outfits you'd have to worry about. :)

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Well, it's certainly an occupational hazzard, anyway.

Thanks for the luck!

From: [identity profile] elyaeru.livejournal.com

You will be fine!

Lots and lots and lots of good luck over here! *points to huge corner of LJ :P*

From: [identity profile] elyaeru.livejournal.com

I've just heard the song and you sound fine!

But if you're like me - and don't believe it when people say things like that xD - and need extra reassurance, I'd say get your hands on a piano and practise singing the notes you might be struggling on? That's if you're a note-struggling person though, like I am. xD

Some links if you really are stressing about it thought:

http://www.vocalist.org.uk/breathing_exercises.html
http://www.vocalist.org.uk/pitching_exercises.html

There's some more on the actual root of that website but um, yeah. I honestly don't know why you're stressing out so much because you'll be great. :D

Thank you! I never took musical classes for my degree, I always just said, "No, I don't sing." Then I auditioned for the mute in The Fantasticks and got saddled with one of the 'mothers' (Instead of fathers in that production). I've come a little late to the party in terms of musical theatre. I can sing, it just doesn't come as easily for me as I'd like it to. (Lots and lots and lots of rehearsal) And I don't have a huge range, but I appreciate so much your linking me to those websites! They're very instructive and informative!

Thanks for the encouragement. :)

From: [identity profile] elyaeru.livejournal.com

Haha, that kind of reminded me of Shilpa Shetty (Bollywood) when she once said: "Sing? Me? I don't sing! I lipsync! It's even on my resume!" xD

And no problem.

Knock 'em dead. :D

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Woo-hoo! I'm always looking for something to add to my resume! Lip synch! It's brilliant!

Thank you! (For using the right terms!)

I'm still working on Lucius & Bella. DH kinds squashed my muse for HP, it was like throwing a bucket of cold water on the creativity. But, I already had the story outlined, so it should be easy to get written and sent, it just may take a little longer than I thought! Hope you don't mind!

From: [identity profile] justduchess.livejournal.com

Lol, no problem!
No problem..it's an odd ship, I know, but after certain moments in the OotP film and HP7, I could see it. ;) Take all the time you need!

*dumps a pile of luck and love on lap*

You will do fine, hun. I was in a production of Into the Woods, and had a blast.

I am sure, even if you do not get the role you want, you will have an amazing time. It is such a fun musical...

*grumbles about lucky Perse seeing Bernadette Peters*

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thank you!

I know. It's Into the Woods! That's why I want it so much.

Yikes. But stinking Sondheim and his stinking hard music...

I'll take lots of pics of Bernie while I'm backstage meeting her in person... *Evil grin*

I listened to it (yes, me with my phobia about downloading things for fear of running over our monthly download limit and incurring much fines) and you sound FINE. I was fully prepared for something warbly and out of tune, but you sounded lovely and very you (ask Myn about my singing if you want. She has a copy of me singing Merry Christmas and it's not pretty). Your voice is clear and so are the notes. You project confidence and energy. One thing to watch for (it might just be the lack of accompaniment, though AND I don't know the song), sometimes you go a bit monotone. Have confidence, girl, I do! All the best of luck! Will be praying extra hard on Sunday (or is it Monday for me?)! G'LUCK!

Oh... and I know a girl who's taken intensive singing lessons and she says to sing up the scale every day, pushing your range either way to try to broaden it. Just don't overdo it, otherwise you'll damage your voice!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thanks, dL!

I'm hoping with the accompaniment, that anything that's flat will sound better. And I can't sound like anything but me... if I could steal someone else's voice I'd... definitely think about it.

Yeah, Myn has me singing 'We Wish you a Merry Christmas...' I do hope that never sees the light of day...

From: [identity profile] mugglechump.livejournal.com

I thought you did very well. The build up to the ending was really good.

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Thanks. I hope the ending sells it. I've head the director say that he likes people who act like they can sing more than singers. :P

From: [identity profile] 13oct.livejournal.com

Hey you never know how good you are at anything till you try! All the very best and keep us posted!

From: [identity profile] persephone33.livejournal.com

Hey, there stranger!

It's good to have you back! How's the new baby? Are you handling the two little ones all right? Like your new house? England? When you have time I'd love to hear all about it!

Slepless in London

It's 11PM here; I'm nursing my newborn and trying to type! LOL that should say a lot about how things are with me.

How am I doing - besides being sleep deprived and totally hormonal, things aren't that bad! Yeah, things are kinda insane right now, but I do make it a point to squeeze in time for my flist to keep me sane...

Any tips on how to manage two kids under two at this stage?

Re: Slepless in London

It gets easier, I swear.

The best thing I did for myself was, I suppose, a bit selfish. Once Aaron was 6 months old, I put then in a Mother's Day out program once a week. From 9 am to 3 pm on Tuesdays I was free, and I did whatever I wanted (or needed) to do, which ranged from going to the market to getting a pedicure (which I still maintain is cheaper than therapy - everyone should get them). So much of you is wrapped up in them at this age that it's easy to lose yourself. So take a bubble bath, relax, remember to breathe, and that this is a very short season of life. It will be over before you know it and pretty soon they'll be feeding themselves breakfast and you'll wake up pleasantly rested at 9 am thinking, Wow, I've got self-sufficient children!

If all else fails, I'm here to listen. ;)

I love Into the Woods! It's one of my favorite musicals. I hope you get a part in it; I'm rooting for you.
